JOTA (Jamboree On The Air) – JOTI (Jamboree On The Internet) is considered the world’s largest digital Scout event. The main aims of this event were to support young people of all ages, to learn about communications technology, the values of global citizenship, and their role in creating a better world.
Royal International School Scout Group organized a Jamboree on the 15th of October 2022 at the school premises. For the 1st time in Kurunegala, over 80 Scouts and Girl Guides representing 8 different schools from the Kurunegala district took part in this event. This was a fresh experience for the Scouts in the Kurunegala district.
I assisted the scouts by running a radio station. I got help from Varuna 4S5VNN and Shamim 4S6SCO. We chose to operate under the callsign 4S7RCS which is the club callsign of Amateur Radio Civil Services Network, Sri Lanka.
While we operated from Kurunegala, 4S7RS was running the main program from the Scouts Headquarters in Colombo. There were few more stations around the country.
Our program comprised a variety of activities, including Fox hunt, SSTV, Morse code, Flag signal, and so on.
In the morning, a workshop was conducted by myself. I will share the slide deck here.
